President's address

Through development of new products to satisfy all our customers, proactively expanding our stores in the inner-city areas, strengthening our existing stores, Haruyama Trading Company is taking on the challenge of further market expansion.

On behalf of Haruyama Group, we would like to thank you very much for your loyal patronage.

Our company which was founded in Okayama Prefecture in 1974, established its operating base at an early stage in Western Japan.  Thereafter, we penetrated into the metropolitan areas of Osaka and Tokyo, steadily expanding nationwide.  Our specialized store chains such as “Menswear Haruyama,” exceeded 100 stores in 1990, 200 stores in 1995, 300 stores in 2004, and 373 stores as of the end of March 2011, making us one of the largest specialized menswear chains in the industry.

It can be said that the present environment surrounding the  specialized menswear industry is facing difficult times with price escalation, an increasingly competitive environment, and diversification of consumer tastes, calling into account the navigational skills of the management.  Because we have continually been implementing our management principle “better products for less” from the time of our founding, we take pride in the fact that we are steadily growing even under these difficult conditions.  Not only are we pursuing high quality, highly functional products, we are constantly promoting the development of products with added originality sought after by the people of our time.  In addition, through cooperation with materials manufacturers and garment manufacturers, we are constantly thinking ahead in making proposals which meet the needs of our customers and are focused on providing such products with value-for-money prices.

The environment surrounding the present clothing industry continues to be harsh with the decrease in demand for business suits with the mass retirement of the baby boomers and diversification of sales channels including progress in IT. Even in such a circumstance, in order to achieve positive results, product proposals thinking ahead of customer needs, effective new store development and thorough implementation of CS (customer satisfaction) are essential. We will continue to maintain growth and expansion and to promote a proactive management.

As a specific approach, we are focusing on strengthening the ladies sector and existing stores.

In order to achieve stable and continuous growth, we will continue to strengthen our financial standing with emphasis on cash flow, as well as solidify our management base.  To that end, we will focus on human resource development, improve the productivity of each employee, ensure that our products and services reflect customers’ comments, and progress toward the realization of our management principle, “better products for less.”  Our many successful products and newly developed products released one after another since our establishment can be attributed to the forward looking atmosphere prevalent within our company.   In the future, we would like to improve our corporate atmosphere so that we can continue to boldly undertake new challenges.  Not only would we like to achieve an increase in share prices for the benefit of our shareholders, but we would like to express our enthusiasm in giving our 100% so that we may satisfy all our stake holders.  Your continued generous support will be much appreciated.
